How much is too much?

I was chatting with a dance dad this week while waiting for C's step class to end. His daughter has the fullest schedule of any 7 year old I've ever heard of. Monday is Piano, Tues - Gymnastics, Wed. - Girl Scouts, Fri - Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Sat. - Step dance, then Karate. When does this family get to breathe? I'm feeling a little stressed 'cause I'm breaking my "two things only" rule this fall and allowing C to try chorus. She auditioned (at 8?? I thought it was just a formality, or to place them, but no... they mean business. They win competitions...) and made the cut, and it's directly after school. She loves dance, and now with L starting, and my deep involvement in it, she really can't quit that (haha), and Brownies, well, I'm one of the leaders... so she's gotta come along for that anyway.

My mother is thrilled! She sings - and is very good - and it made her day to hear that C tried out and made it.

I really must vow to keep my nose out of chorus. I have this problem with volunteering to help with the activities C is involved in. Ok, I skipped baseball last spring. But I'm so mired in step dance and GS, it's not even funny. Right now I should be planning our first GS meeting - parents and girls.

But back to the original subject - is this girl enjoying doing all this? She has two days where she has no extra activities - and I'm sure they go to church on Sunday. I want my kids to do things that they're interested in, but also to be kids without the pressure to do so much. There will be plenty of time for that later on in life!
