Finished THE Book

I know, I know. I said I was going to try to read slowly. Ha. Good luck.

I got to Borders at 8am and waited in a line of very cheerful people to get my bracelet. Change from last release - they allowed us to prepay. Fabulous idea. I was back home by 9:30 to begin the long wait for midnight.

By the time dh got home, it was nearly 11pm. C and I were dressed and ready to go. She was done up in her robes, we'd put her hair in multiple braids, so it was very Hermione-ish, she had her scarf... she was ready. She'd insisted I dress up, too. Sigh. I made a "Weird Sisters" t-shirt, wore jeans, whipped up black robes and sprayed my hair pink and went as Tonks.

We had to park quite a way away from the book store, but that was fine. It made the exit that much easier. We only live a few minutes away, so we go there at about 11, just in time for them to be kicking everyone out of the store. So much for the festivities portion of the evening. So we wait in a huge crowd. I'd managed to get us pretty near the front door, so when they FINALLY called for the first group (by bracelet color and number - we were orange 1 :) ), we were fairly close to the front of the line. It was cool to be among the first ones in the store and to be able to race through their maze to create the line instead of joining the line at the back and inching along.

Midnight arrived and the crowd cheered. The line moved quickly to the book station, and their preplanning paid off. C and I soon had our books, then our gift posters, and were back in the truck to go home by 10 after 12! That included the hike back to our parking spot. We were home by 12:15.

I chatted up dh for a while, then took a shower to wash the pink crap out of my hair. C went gleefully upstairs with her book. I then read until about 2, yelled up to C to turn her lights off (and made sure she did!) and off to bed.

Shockingly, I did not neglect my family yesterday. I cooked, folded laundry, cleaned up a bit, and read. I finished at 9:30 pm. I will not say a single word about the book. Read it yourself. You'll get no spoilers from me!

C is half way through it. She's dying to finish it before she leaves for camp today. I don't think so!

Harry Harry, Sigh... Harry

The countdown in our house has begun. I have my marching orders. Mom, get yourself out of the house early on Friday morning to go wait in line at Borders to get a good, low numbered bracelet. Come home. Work all day. Maybe get a nap. ROFL... Go back to Borders for 10:30pm. This is the latest C will allow, and the earliest I will go. Fight the crowds at the 'party' until they allow us to line up - serpentine around the stacks in the store - awaiting midnight and the release of Deathly Hallows.

We're getting two copies. I am an evil, evil mom. Yes, one is for C. The book will be in her hands from time of purchase Friday/Sat until she leaves for GS camp on Sunday. Wa-hahaha. No HP book at camp. I don't want it to vanish! So then, DH and I won't have to fight over who gets it to read.

It's going to be really hard to read this book. I'm going to want to gulp it down, but I am going to have to force myself to take sips and savor every word. Silly, maybe... We're just huge HP fans. We have British versions of books 1 - 5, as well as the American versions. I've just re-read OOTP (before the movie came out) and HBP so I remember exactly what's going on. Still got teary at the end of HBP. At least this time I wasn't tempted to throw the book across the room.

I'm a little afraid to read the last book. I don't want it to be over. I don't want Harry to die. I don't want Ron or Hermione or Ginny to die. (or Fred or George, or Bill... or Mr or Mrs W... Percy... eh.) Now Snape... he's another post!
